The idea of efficient electrically-powered flight demands sophisticated solutions that call for modularity, scalability, structural simplicity, ease of use and a multi mission approach. Combined into a single system the history of urban air mobility is being rewritten.

Wings for superb range performance

The addition of wings highly contributes to the lift of the SKIES eVTOL aircraft and increases its overall efficiency. Wings are particularly useful with higher cruising speeds, reducing the portion of the energy consumption required for vertical lift down to only 5% compared to stationary flight. This effect leads to increased nominal cruise distance (up to 500 %) and/or payload (up to 200 %).

Optimised downwash / outwash behaviour

An unsolved issue with existing evtol concepts are the hurricane level wind speeds in the landing area, known as downwash/ outwash. GERMANIUM SKIES will positively mitigate this issue:

The large rotor design of FLIGHT module leads to reduced speeds of air stream in relation to low diameter propulsion concepts.

eVTOL: SKIES ports contain roof elements with an airstream design, creating a zone of low wind speeds for the passengers and personnel.

This has a negative effect for the efficiency of the airstream generated by the rotors to create the uplift. With the more distanced design of the TRANSPORT module from GERMANIUM SKIES, the airstream is much less affected, which increases the propulsion efficiency of the system.
